• The truth of suffering.
• The cause of suffering.
• The end of suffering.
• The paths to obtain freedom from suffering.
Gautama referred to this shared human trait that is built into the DNA of everyone as the ‘Human condition’. An inherent attraction to suffering with no structure or control to steer away from it or remove oneself from it.
The first is also known as Dukkha (Pronounced Dook-ah). This includes stress, discomfort, disease, tension, sadness, anger and any feeling or event that makes a person feel pain and a lack of regret over something. You must understand the knowledge of suffering and investigate the origin of this suffering which will enable you to isolate it and to then move on to the next truth. The feeling and affect on you or others is what you will find as the truth, its existence and presence and effects on the mind of the sufferer.
The Dukkha leads you to the second noble truth, you’ll be aware that this doesn’t happen without any triggers; pain doesn’t manifest from thin air so you are now at a point that you need to understand the nature of this suffering. Admit that there is pain and suffering so you can confront it in order to deal with it. Only at this point you can take control of it‘s power by admitting it‘s there, You can now hold its power in your hands to control its negative influence.
According to Gautama, there are three causes of suffering, they are poisons that bring aversion, craving and confusion. Cluttering the mind, they influence how you think, feel and act.
Reaching the third noble truth means being highly aware of where the Dukkha is coming from, and it’s time to put an end to it. You have diagnosed the problem; and like a wound, if you don’t treat it, it will fester, eat you up and you will be unable to heal.
Gautama teaches that it is essential that you practice letting go of your Dukkha. At some point you must understand yourself and know that the cause of your suffering must be dealt with; if you are not taking control of this, you are not taking control of your life, and you are the only one to blame for your suffering. Break the cycle of suffering, take control of it and channel the energy into a positive force. This is the call for you to uproot the problem and gradually adjust and walk towards the path to healing.
The Fourth Noble Truth is also known and The Eight Fold Path. This puts an end to Dukkha, and end to the suffering and it requires effort, commitment and investment.
This is the path of healing and the path of strength to overcome Dukkha and prevent it manifesting again in the future, be it in it‘s original form or a diluted version.
